About Kimberly Laughman, MD
Kimberly Laughman, MD, is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist who relocated to New York City from a private practice in Chicago. A native New Yorker, she is happy to be back home, and now several years into practice, her philosophy of women’s health is rooted in patient empowerment and education.
Prior to pursuing medicine, Dr. Laughman was a tenured NYC high school educator, an experience that fundamentally shaped her approach to patient care. She believes that informed patients are empowered patients, and is deeply committed to helping women understand their bodies so they can advocate effectively for their own health.
Dr. Laughman earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Columbia University, and holds a Master of Science in Adolescent Science Education from Pace University. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University in Chicago, where she was actively involved in resident and medical student education.
Her clinical interests span the full arc of women’s health, with particular focus on adolescent health and contraception, abnormal uterine bleeding, menopause, and holistic approaches that thoughtfully integrate evidence-based medicine with each patient’s individual priorities and values. Throughout her training, she remained deeply committed to community service and mentorship—teaching biology to underrepresented minority high school students through Columbia’s State Pre-College Enrichment Program, co-founding the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons Breaking the Silence Discussion Series, and serving as Vice President of the Black & Latino Student Organization. She has been recognized with honors including the Daniel Noyes Brown Scholar distinction and the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.
Dr. Laughman is known for her attentive listening and her ability to meet patients exactly where they are—creating space for honest conversation and ensuring every visit leaves her patient feeling more informed about her own body. Outside of clinical practice, she is an avid gardener and potter, and enjoys photography, weight training, hosting friends, and exploring New York City’s vibrant food scene.
