What Is Laparoscopic Surgery?
Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a laparoscope—a long, slender device inserted through a small incision—to view the abdominal and pelvic organs on a screen. The laparoscope can be used to detect issues that need to be addressed surgically. Any additional instruments required can then be inserted through the same incision or an additional small incision.
This surgery does require general anesthesia to put you to sleep. Your provider will go over what to expect. You’ll likely experience less recovery time and overall pain compared to other surgical procedures.
